Hermanus Township

We met with Earl, the coach and the Captain of the township football team and donated some football balls, cones and bibs.

They were very grateful. They are developing a youth squad in the township and are desperately short of space or a pitch to play on. Equipment is also in short supply hence our donations were very gratefully received.

Father Sike had organised for the Trust to donate some football kit, balls, bibs and a trophy on behalf of the Rob Stephenson Trust for the Team Player of the Year. They were very grateful for the kit and immediately tried them on for the photo opportunity. They particularly enjoyed receiving the trophy as they felt that it reflected the spirit of what they were trying to achieve. The coaches even felt they knew who they were going to award it to already. As Patrick pointed out it was to honour the individual that tried their hardest and put in most effort over the year. It was not to go to the winner, but the contributor to the team. In some cases this might be the young person who has had to overcome the most hardship, perhaps because of their personal home situation.
