Nearly 100 people completed the walk from Thornton Dale Cricket Club to Malton and Norton Rugby club on Sunday 28th August. The half marathon was completed first by Karl Bunby in one hour, 41 minutes. Many ran the route through farmland and farm tracks, but others took a more leisurely stroll through the beautiful Ryedale countryside.

A fantastic £2,425 was raised for the Rob Stephenson Trust. A big thank you to Sally Wilson and her team for organising such a successful event. Many friends and family were at the rugby club to cheer the competitors home.

The Trust wishes to thank everyone for contributing to the success of the day, from those that took part to others that donated. The ethos of friendship and support within the family of sport continues and is central to the motto of ‘Laugh Live Learn Play’.

The Stephenson’s are now off to support the cyclists on their Top to Toe, Lands End to John O Groats bike trip. Harry Stenton, Stephen Webster and Thomas Davies are to complete the 1000 mile journey over 10 days. Nicki and Patrick are to provide the support from the Penrith to Hamilton stretch next Saturday. We are very proud of these young men who have organised this event in support of their friend Rob and we look forward to hearing about their journey so far. From an appeal on Facebook the agricultural community has once again come to together and is providing them with overnight accommodation across the length and breadth of their trip.
