Kamwi is a small village about 40 minutes by vehicle from Livingstone. Kamwi village has a few houses and a primary school, which is supported by the Butterfly Tree Charity. The nearest larger village, Mukuni, with a market, shop and High School, is 8km away along a dirt road. When the children are ready to move up to secondary school, they walk at least this distance twice a day….several live beyond Kamwi.

We took the football strips, as well as stationery equipment, to Kamwi and stayed for the day helping in the classrooms. The children were very wary of us at first but when we joined in the dancing and singing, which the teacher instigated between subjects, they warmed up.

The two Headteachers we met were thrilled with the equipment we took out – it was in the middle of the world Cup so couldn’t have been more appropriate as they are all football crazy.

Thanks again to you and your charity for giving us the opportunity to take out the sports bibs…..your work makes such a difference to so many young people.
